Here's what the sky looks like today in my area:
Does that look like a day for Pho, or what?
My brother's sister-in-law recently found a Pho restaurant nearby, and we found it today! Behold:
I can't describe to you how excited I was. My brother (Aaron) likely noticed me hopping lightly from one foot to the other...
Pho Mekong is a clean, tidy little restaurant near the Utica Courthouse. The decor is blue and white, with little adornment.
With this good, healthy chow, you don't need frill and fuss. I ordered the small Pho Ga (chicken soup).
Aaron ordered the large Pho Do Bien (seafood soup):
The bowls come in an option of three sizes, in super-reasonable prices: small for $5.95, large for $6.95 and extra-large for $7.95 (USD). The small was quite enough, and Aaron felt that the large was almost too much food for him.
Almost.
Upstaters, I strongly recommend visiting this place--you won't regret it.

Hey! Utica is only 1 1/2 hours away. . . . .
Heheh... I wouldn't drive 1-1/2 hours just for this, although if you do find yourself in the area, I would consider it as a must-visit!
Wow...I know that you suggested that I try Pho at a place in my area, but I guess I'm just not a big fan of noodles in a MONSTER bowl. However, I do like the monster bowl, and I love how Aaron is slurping it down!
Oh, yes--the bowls are HUGE. I think an extra-large could bathe a family of four.
Pho places in Atlanta seemed like the bowls were bigger to me--the 'regular' size that I used to eat was the size of Aaron's large.
It was so good we were both drinking out of the bowls. But I was the one with the camera! ;)
