Salmonella outbreaks are being reported in larger numbers caused by peanut butter and peanut butter products. Be sure to check the FDA's long list of recalled products. If you have any of them, THROW THEM OUT.
Also check out the Center for Disease Control (CDC)'s page on this salmonella outbreak, which explains the outbreak in the United States, the effected jar peanut butter brands and other peanut butter-containing products to date, as well as the signs and symptoms of salmonella infection.
Here is another great article about the situation, as well.
Be on the safe side. Check it out. Throw away any PB items on the recall list.
