Are You Partied Out?

I am. And it's just the beginning.

I didn't mention this before, but we were in a car accident Thursday night. There were no injuries other then general bang-up soreness (Thank God!), but our only vehicle is out of commission. I think that set the tone for the whole weekend, since we couldn't get the adjuster to come on Friday and the rental car company was out of cars until Monday.

Out. Of. Cars.

Is that not one of the most absurd things you've ever heard?

Mr.W's office Christmas party was Friday afternoon, so we were able to hitch a ride to that with some friends. It was a good 15-minute drive out of town for us at Turning Stone Casino, and even though we weren't particularly in the mood for holiday merriment, we were glad we went--and not only because Mr.W won $50 at blackjack. It was nice to set aside the aggravation of the moment and just chill out. It put us back into perspective.

And then our annual Holiday Open House was Saturday--enjoyable, certainly, as well as convenient, since we just stayed home and let our friends come to us.

Some of you may remember my Man Food Series, which was a review of the food I made for my husband's group of guy friends that get together for male bonding. That group of fellas, along with significant others and children meet for a yearly Christmas fete at a local restaurant--that was Sunday afternoon. We went to El Camino for yummy, yummy mexican food. And boy, do I mean yummy!

Even though each of those gatherings were fun, three parties in three days was exhausting. I was happy to see Monday come. Getting our rental car didn't hurt, either. I'd forgotten how much easier it is to drive a car instead of a big, honkin' truck!

Nothing noteworthy is going on in my kitchen today. With all of this party food going on, meals at home are becoming much more simple. Last night was soup and bread. Tonight it's pork chops and sauteed broccoli.

Tomorrow night is another Christmas party.

How has your party schedule been? Are you partied out yet?

Nope, not partied out over here, thanks to not having much of a social network yet! But I am living vicariously through you and your blog postings!

Oh, Kathy. You know you can always come to my parties. That is, if you want to fly all the way from the West Coast...

Besides. Now you have The Danes to keep you busy, not to mention that darling little tyke of yours experiencing his first ever Christmas! :)
